IGI Poseidon S.A. is a 50-50% Joint Venture between DEPA S.A. and Edison S.p.A., incorporated under Greek law and based in Athens.

The Company is engaged in the development of gas infrastructure projects in South East Europe and is currently promoting the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), the Poseidon pipeline and the Eastern Mediterranean pipeline (EastMed).



The DEPA Group is Greece’s major natural gas utility, responsible for the wholesale, trading, transmission, distribution and supply of natural gas. DEPA safeguards Greece’s security of gas supply while promoting the country as a gas hub and gateway for energy to Europe. The Hellenic Republic Assets Development Fund (HRADF)  Hellenic Petroleum (HelPe) hold 65% and 35% of the Company's shares respectively. DEPA holds a 51% stake in three Gas Distribution Companies (EPAs) in the regions of Attiki, Thessaloniki and Thessalia.


With over 130 years of history, Edison is one of the main companies in Italy and Europe in the supply, production and sale of energy and in the E&P. Today Edison operates in 10 countries worldwide, employing around 3,000 people. The Company can count on 7.700 MW installed power capacity, on approx. 350 million barrels of oil equivalent hydrocarbons reserves and on approx. 13 billion cubic meters of gas supply portfolio.

Since 2012 Edison has been part of EDF (Electricité de France) group, which holds 99.483% of the shares.
